Meditation – A Spiritual Phenomena

Meditation is also known as Dhyana in Vedic culture. In Vedic people (Followers of Vedas) yoga is the most profound philosophy of living a prosperous life. Better health and wellness is the part of Vedic people life, they know that the body is the temple of life which should be kept physically healthy and mentally fit and yoga is the method to achieve it. Yoga is a completely scientific process to keep the body healthy and mind well. Meditation is part of the science of yoga. In ashtanga yoga, meditation is the seventh limb which can be achieved by the optimized and proper concentration also called Dharna.  When the mind is relaxed but focused and aware at this state of mind, mind and body create a special bond, where many processes in the body can be a boost or controlled by the mind.

Meditation & Immunity

After getting physically ill by any contamination or infection the body defense starts a fight to the microorganism infected diseases, with the power of immunity numerous cells and chemicals created by the body to fight these disease-causing microorganisms. These cells created every second, every hour and every day in our body to fight against various germs but many times these cells are not enough strong to fight the disease, then medicines as additional power help us to win the body against these diseases. The mind plays an important role to win the battle with the disease as its control and boosts the power of human cells and tissues. To keep the body fit healthy food and healthy habits help. But to keep the mind fit we need a focused and aware mind.

Meditation is the spiritual way to keep your mind wellMeditation makes you calm and patient. Once you get ill the mind develops an imbalance that creates delusions and fears. Various delusions started by overthinking which leads to fear of the disease, these mental illusions, and fears imbalanced the system of the body and mind which affect the physical & mental strength. A healthy mind is essential to develop the positive and transcendental healing of the body which results to boost our immunity power. The cell starts to function better and effectively. The stressed and fearful mind makes the body system behave negatively and tensed which affects the efficiency of the immunity. The positive, balanced and focused mind is the way to boost the body immunity power. Meditation teaches the mind to control the mind and the body, as the yoga philosophy said the senses are controlled by the mind(Manas) and the mind is controlled by the intellect(Buddhi) and intellect by the pure self(Atman). Meditation is the path toward the self-healing of body & mind.

Meditation Practice Tips:

Here are some important points to start the practice of Meditation. The greater part of the practical lessons which the Yogi gives us is in the mind, the power of concentration and meditation.

Asana (Posture):

The first step of meditation, to sit in the posture In which you can sit still for a long time. All the nerve flows are working pass along the spine. The spine is not intended to support the weight of the body. Therefore the posture must be such that the weight of the body is not on the spine. Let it be free from all kinds of stress.

Diet:

The food must be simple and taken several times a day instead of once or twice. Never get very hungry. “He who eats too much cannot be a Yogi. He who fasts too much cannot be a Yogi. He who sleeps too much cannot be a Yogi, nor he who keeps awake too much.” (Gita, VI. 16.) He who does not do any work and he who works too hard cannot succeed. Proper food, proper exercise, proper sleep, proper wakefulness — these are necessary for any success. Food plays an important role to strengthen the immune system. Sattvic(pure) food is the best food to stimulate the immune system.

Breathing Practices:

Take a deep breath and fill the lungs. Slowly throw the breath out. Take it through one nostril and fill the lungs, and throw it out slowly through the other nostril. Some of us do not breathe deeply enough. Others cannot fill the lungs enough. These breathings will correct that very much. Half an hour in the morning and half an hour in the evening will make you another person. This sort of breathing is never dangerous. The other exercises should be practiced very slowly. And measure your strength. If ten minutes are a drain, only take five. The breathing practice in meditation creates a conscious prana(vital energy) force to the cellular system of the body through deep inhalation and exhalation that relax and revitalize the immune cells

Meditation is a spiritual phenomenon, but it takes practice and patience to achieve its state. So by practicing daily and patiently, you will see tremendous transformational changes in your body response and mental wellness. So, keep meditating and experience the conscious body and mind.
